The control is under my thumb
A minute ago, James Durban left the stage. Once again, Idol eats its young, and the best don’t survive. More’s the pity. Bringing it 110% isn’t enough. Maybe I should watch more hockey.
The first of the tax rebates is in (and spent). Debt reduction. Too bad the government doesn’t understand basic economic principles. I’d love to take a cheque and splurge, but this is my money, not some lottery windfall.

Still yearning for a new lens, and seeing if there is any alternative to spending those hard earned dollars. It appears that I could purchase a cheaper model and upgrade parts (mount, hood, etc). The catch; I’m not equipped or trained to deal with the tiny parts involved in optical surgery. In my world, I’d end up with a bag of assorted parts and a deep sense of chagrin (at my own stupidity). Scratch that plan.
I’m now on a fourth ebook and my satisfaction with the process is growing. On a bus, the reader is actually more convenient than paper, and I’ve got the “startup and shutdown” sequence under my thumb. When my stop approaches, I just fold the cover over the top, stow the assembly in my bag and beat my retreat. Took nine months to get ready for the jump, but now I’m a believer. Ebooks are the way of (my) future.
