From my front row seat
Let’s get this party started! I’m sitting, front row no less, at the Juno Award show. Bit crowded; there are several million of us. If the TV feed fails, I’ll be back to imagining.
Lot of talented musicians here. Right now, Arcade Fire is making their way forward to accept an award. A few minutes ago, the kid with the hair from Stratford (Justin somebody) was in contact via Skype. Should I send my contact info?
Some distraction in my row. what with a neighbour trying to make an iPad print pages. I don’t have my head around that one, Back to the music, please. Earlier, there was a retrospective on jazz in Montreal. I’d forgotten how talented Alain Caron and the other members of UZEB were. Time for a reunion show, and I’ll want front row seats for that, too.
Even the commercials are over the top. There’s XTina, looking “mahvelous” as Billy Crystal might say. She’s letting me know that there’ll be a new musical judging show, where the voice will be important. Take that, you know who!
Now Sarah McLachlan is doing what she does best. There was a confusing moment where she claimed to like T.O. despite being a west coast girl… did Halifax move, or is her map in a mirrored world?
There’s no special need for the Junos, now that music is everywhere and available in a hundred different ways, but I’m a sucker for a good concert. That Justin kid isn’t in town…
If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to concentrate on who I can see around here. Front row seat and all.
