Another island to visit, some day
Count on the team at Thalassa to show me more places to visit, knowing that I’ll likely never get to go. Unless, by some strange twist of fate, my case comes to the attention of an eccentric philanthrope, and I get my pick of destinations.
This evening, we’ve been to Ouessant. Off the track, a bit. An island, emprisoned by rocks and waves. Not like my Gentle Island, but similar in “oh so many ways”. There’s something about having a wet wall…
At work, today, we (the technical crew) were invited to the newest videoconference room. There are now three in our small centre; soon, there’ll be no reason to travel for anyone. And there’s been an evolution in the installations. The latest equipment can do “four plus one”, and the screen is a massive 52 inch flatscreen. HD, no less. Finally, a chance to see and be seen in our glory. I jest, but only a litte. By comparison, the original codec is giving an image quality that leaves much to the imagination.
Another early visit to the coffee store. At 07h15, the place is deserted, and the staff are attentive. No need to explain measure or grind. A pleasure doing business. And my visit fits in between two bus runs, so I don’t arrive anywhere “later than usual”. I think my shopping habits have been altered permanently.
Only four months until summer; where will we hide the snow? The Crashed Ice installation is underway, but by the time the cameras have come and gone, the sprint to spring will be underway. Time is passing more quickly than before.
