The web as my archive

posted in genealogy |

The more you seek, the more you’ll find. My efforts to find photos relating to my lifetime are no longer limited to dusty boxes of snapshots. More and more, the Internet is giving up content that I can add to my own database. Kind of like a time machine, when you think about it, except that the travel can be done when I want, from my home.

It’s not all out there, but if you will compromise on the “historical accuracy” in terms of the time period, then an amazing wealth exists. I went looking for a photo of the hospital where I was born, and have (so far) found one that predates me by several decades; no matter, if a better one comes along I’ll update my work. How simple is that?
