Good afternoon of football
The latest twist in pandemic prevention involved a lottery. That is, you get a coupon, and then you trade the coupon in on an injection, and then you avoid tragedy. At least, that’s how the whole thing was explained on a recent cable news program. My own experience has been a little different.
Early this morning, the suggestion that we go and get some coupons over at the clinic sounded as more proactive than my staying in bed waiting for breakfast. I quickly dressed and waited by the front door, where the variation/mutation of the plan was presented. I should go and get coupons for both of us. Of course, by the time I arrived at the tail of the line, the front had already posted an “Out of coupons for today” notice; I returned home via the hardware store where I purchased enough weather stripping to keep cool breezes at bay, should the pandemic spread to our home.
The playoff season is underway in university football. This afternoon, the Rouge et Or hosted the Carabins from U de Montreal up river. After some struggle, the Dunsmore Cup was presented to Laval for another season. Great play. No one-sided annihalation here, despite a final score of 31-7; the Montreal team gave as good as they got. Only one cheap shot to note, when the Laval placekicker was hit (late). Milo had already twisted his ankle during the first half, so this added insult to injury. The crowd was “greatly displeased” and the offending player was also shown to be remorseful (a rare sight in college football).
