A ferry spotter’s bounty

posted in travel |

Made an early run to Elliott’s store to return our late DVD of Narnia, which didn’t seem to bother anyone given the usual payment of late fees. Rent, penalty, all go to the same bottom line. Down in Souris, found two CTMA vessels about, as the Voyageur was loading the big trucks before the Madeleine received a new litter of tourists. We decided to have a proper meal at the Bluefin, but had to wait until the lunch (pre-boarding?) rush had passed. Talking to a pair of MacAdams in the mall, one home from China for another couple of days.

The wonders of the dollar store! When I can buy a USB cable for 10% of the price at a Shack, or two packages of velcro tape, or a pocket level that I’ll never use for a Loonie, it puts fun back into shopping. This is not a big ticket big box, just a diversion. We also caught up on net duties and placed some Skype-calls from the comfort of the van.

Another jug of chocolate milk and some cheap cookies was enough excuse to head for Basin Head. The high surf view from our rustic waterfront cabin, and a dog resolutely interested by the possibility of some cheap cookies was an even tradeoff against the wind and showery weather. The wind guaranteed a change of cooking venue, with our hotdog feast prepared in the cooking shelter. Also our reading shelter, movie-watching shelter and laundry shelter. Multi-use is so cool!
