Hint of interesting weather

posted in travel |

An exotic start to the day, with a full-blown exhibition of martial arts in front of our campsite; our neighbour from Drummondville came equipped with an open mind and lots of extra padding. A proof that video games do distort the sense of reality was presented when son #3 donned his share of the gear, and used all those skills so honed on the Dreamcast or PS2 or GameCube or whatever the console of the season is called. A short time later, irrefutable proof that martial arts take years of practice to achieve that necessary immunity to pain. Amazing what a big toe can do, when bent in unexpected directions. Let’s hope limping is in vogue.

Our trip to the Stratberia took time as we shopped for food, watched the sky for a reported funnel cloud and just plain got sort of lost on the way. No big problem, as the mailbox at destination actually had names on it. Yes, this is a hint to the other landholders on the fair Isle. We spent time before the annual group barbecue watching lightning out over the water, wondering if a real storm might suddenly come over the horizon and rattle our nonchalant attitude to “heavy weather”. I also know more about how the eel population is sampled; think glass-bottomed boats with high-tech lighting and video feeds.

Similarly, the whole road trip back to the campground had a spectacular sky, with a full moon to provide background light to the electrical show. We detoured, sort of by chance, sort of on purpose via the Lot 48 road which is probably beautiful by day, but rather unsettled by night.

Housing prices are of interest right now, and the discovery that my aunt’s old house in Morell is available for just slightly more than I really want to pay to the bank is going to provide food for thought for the next while.
