Window with a natural view

posted in environment |

My office is housed in an old elementary school, many times renovated, with the front section dating back to 1864. The vestiges of a country school, when the city didn’t exist. Now, in one of the pricier neighbourhoods, the land is probably too valuable to do anything except house my office (actually, the land still belongs to a church, but we won’t go there).

All of one wall is a window; after all, this was an elementary school, and apart from a lovely home, the rest of the view is pure nature. A wall of green, Japanese Knotweed, hides the home’s back yard to a certain extent, but the hundred of tall trees are a veritable nature reserve. Lots of squirrels, in black, grey, white. Other assorted mammals, including a raccoon that has mastered the “illegal entry into a green garbage bin” technique.

Today, a red cardinal. The last time I saw one, I was in grade one or two. I’ve never forgotten. Today, just there for the view.
