But, first, a word from our sponsors
Busy winter ahead, for the latest iteration of our federal government. Among the promises (because a throne speech isn’t anything more), we’re going to end the pandemic, fight climate change and put the economy on an even keel. Frankly, I can’t wait!
But, first, a word from our sponsors. This is going to be an expensive proposition, and we need penny possible. I know, we don’t exactly, use pennies any more. It’s symbolic, just like the accompanying speech.
Outside, the rain is falling, in the darkness. This has been the main feature of the last twenty-four hours, although we did have a very localized power failure, through the night. I know, because the generator did what it was supposed to do: force me to reset the electronic clocks in the kitchen. Our cuckoo did just fine. And I didn’t need to check the sump pump; I could hear it, regularly. I’m very in tune with the background sounds of the house.
Weather works differently, up where the kids hang out. There’s a small pond, in front of the apartment block. Yesterday, ducks. Today, ice. No word on whether the fowl froze. Probably not. Don’t they have some sort of weird integrated antifreeze in the paddles? And of course, out west, where they are going to really hate a winter without roads and bridges. The good old days?
I’ve learned that our homes are not ready for climate change. Speak for yourselves. I’ve done everything I can, and solar is going to follow. My plan, not the government’s. And my coat and boots are still warm and dry, so there’s that.
