Me and a bin, in the dark

posted in food |

That was darker than expected: I decided to push my compost to the side of the road, and for some reason the light fixtures that I installed less than a year ago have decided to go on slowdown. Not off, exactly. A dull glow that reminds me how LED isn’t a replacement for everything. I do know where my driveway is, and the presence of extra vehicles just made me cautious. Getting into a fender bender with my bin would do nothing for my reputation as a driver.

All that to say that it is really dark, right now. In fact, I’m going to head for bed, just as soon as I can. Tomorrow has packing needs, in anticipation of a long camping trip, and I’ll feel better if I remember to bring the important stuff. Cue flashlights and pillows.

Locally, the tourist trade is waning, and it looks like time to shutter the fast food fish places. We plan to have a sit-down meal before the weekend,  but that business isn’t a seasonal, so we should be good.

I have managed to find the “jigger” for the pressure cooker, online. Before losing momentum, I’ll order one (the perfect way to have our original peek out from the corner of the cupboard and hiss “cuckoo”. Hey, maybe I’ll renew my love for overcooked food. Split pea soup, or something similar. I don’t can food, but apparently this is the proper tool for the job. I’ll stick to foods that stay on the ribs. Salted split pea soup (did that before).
