Here we are; the end of the month, and there’s been no breeze all day. Do you think they went over budget, and had to turn off the fans early? Trying to fit life into the constraints of a calendar again. Like, school must be about to begin, because September.
And how about things that disappear, just when you need them. We have a pressure cooker. Haven’t used in in ages, but now that there are lentils that require a hot boil, the little jigger that sits on top to control over-pressure is MIA. In fact, not even in action. Missing, without cause. In a few days, after we’ve opened enough drawers (over and over again), I’ll try to second source one on the web. I will not believe that we are the first to lose the only important piece. Just because we haven’t tried to use the pot in X years, doesn’t mean we won’t. I offer this moment as proof.
The absence of any breeze did see me out on the deck, with a coffee. Hey, even the bugs missed that moment. And my coffee was excellent. I would claim that there was a gentle breeze, but there wasn’t.
I’ve been reading the forecasts for the elections (still several weeks away), and the come-from-behind party is getting excited. Polls. It doesn’t matter that the assurance of a win is in no way attached to the sentiments of a few thousand people that still have a land line and are willing to tell an anonymous caller their deepest secrets (politically).
