The alternate menu, please and thanks

posted in food, genealogy |

Some of the skills I picked up while dabbling in the IT world came into use this afternoon. My neighbour has (had) a lovely laptop that lost out in one of those drop tests. Gravity won. Managed to remove the power connector from the motherboard, which is a bit of a death sentence in this world of “repair nothing”.

I did what I could. Moved the internal hard drive to an external case and checked that the data was still there. Let’s not discuss Win10 at this time.

We had a brought-in supper. My cold plate of ham and veggies served as an alternative to the main course. Of course. Just doing my part, “saving the friendless lobster, one plate at a time.”

On Twitter, a photo of a cousin. One of the more famous ones. I realized that the chances of him ever stopping by for a quick cup of java are essentially zero. Like my interest in the associated conversation (as I imagine it). We move in very different circles, and I like mine very much. Ditto for my choice of coffee.

The NHL playoffs are engaged. Once again, a world where my personal interest is essentially zero. I did check to see if the number of anticipated matches has been reduced. Nope. It is all about the money, in a trade that sells lots of jerseys and little else of value. There is one “wild card”; what would the fans do if Toronto ever happened to win? Few of their fan base were even conceived, last time around.
