No mow May

posted in environment, health |

Despite the rain, we went for a car ride today. My first, in many weeks. All in the name of medical science; the nearest vaccination clinic available was a two hour round trip, plus another hour spent mainly in queues, or sitting quietly. The actual injection took seconds, and I can brag that it hardly hurt at all.

Of course, hours after the moment, I have a reasonable headache, and a full canister of ibuprofen in case things get more intense. I somehow doubt they will. After all, I am now a Modern(a) man. The kicker was that there will be a second round in about a month, which means that I get to stand by until then.

And with that, my most exciting day in many months. When the movie version of my life is released, look for a lead actor that in usually seated comfortably, always. And in keeping with my personal style, we’ll now pivot to something else. Actually, when life is live at a slow pace, that’s normal. I mean, I’m not going to rant and rave; I leave that role to my children.

My personal take on lawns with cropped grass (I am against it) are finally atking root elsewhere. The greater Moncton area has announced a “no mow May” campaign, with the goal of allowing a food supply for the birds and the bees. Mainly the bees. The dandelion has an important place in the hierarchy. As well, the city is suspending a bylaw that required over-mowing. Bravo! Now if the neighbours will catch wind of the trend, and let the yellow bloom, we’ll all be winners.
