About to meet the wholesome handpie
Something new for supper! We are reheating a pastry known locally as a “handpie”, and I am going to assume that it is good. Else, why have businesses that specialize in them, or why carry them in the frozen food section of the nearby market.
This was another cold, flurious day outside. Getting spring to be sprung, in Canada, is a long process. We’ve been warned to not swap our tires, or boots, or coats just yet. Keep the shovel in view, and hope that the guy with the big tractor and blower is ready for any eventuality.
We have our first hospital admissions (plural) for the pandemic within the provincee. I’m hanging tight to my intention of getting a shot in the arm, within the next couple of weeks. Until then, I feel no urge to socialize. Funny how we’re slowly accepting the measures required. Sorry that we still have a class of stubborn fools, in certain places. Yes, that includes the political class, who are chosen not for their intelligence.
Higher speed internet remains a puzzle for Canadian legislators. “New rules announced this week will make it easier for smaller companies to purchase bandwidth from larger companies”. Sounds wonderful, except that we remain firmly at the tail end of nations in the G7. It’s not even a question of geography, since most of us live along a narrow strip across the continent. Rather, it’s a blind faith about the ability of Bell and friends to do anything other than enrich their shareholders. If there was ever a time to nationalize an industry, it’s now.
