If only I had thought this through
When I was much younger, I believed that cleaning up my room entailed packing stuff into a smaller space, closing the door and assuming an air of “look how well I did, Mom”. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have moved beyond that model of restoring order to things.
A while back (I am unable to remember how long ago), I was asked to move my toys into a smaller space, so that work could continue in the main area. I did so. I packed all the stuff into a smaller space, I closed the door and I gave myself the mandatory pat on my back to signal a job well done.
Fast forward, to today. I’m trying to get the toys out, to allow for playtime, and I realize that I really should have been more methodical. I have a lot of electronic toys. Each, of course, with its own power supply and cords. And I have no idea about how to put order into my (self-created) mess. I fear that the next while will be an ongoing session of trial and error. Is this the right cable? Does the marked voltage on the power supply match the required voltage? Etc. Etc.
If I was under any sort of time deadline (other than my desire to play), this would be a cry for help. When did the printing on the various pieces of gear shrink? Why aren’t electrical wires colour-coded (on the exterior)? Is there a “magic wand”, or a “genie in a bottle” that I can command to get this all done? No? Oh my, the next while just took on an air of un-fun.
