Hide your kid-lit

posted in education, genealogy |

The library corner devoted to Dr. Seuss is special. For many children in America, his simple rhymes serve as a foundation in the pile of books that every child is likely to read. Now, keep in mind that Mr. Geisel died almost thrty years ago. His many books have content that might not haved aged well. The estate has decided to delist almost ten percent of his published work. If you have hardcover volumes in your personal library, hide them well.

Spent some time chatting with one of the sibs this evening, discussing our forebears. Most of my family runs into the fog when we get further back than the grands, but I believe we have to keep the names at hand. I send lots of tree shots, and when the question comes up about how old was so-and-so when they died, I can usually dish out details. Still need to fill in some empty slots, but don’t we all?

Cold right now. I was out trying to break trail for visitors (don’t need visitors, but one should be prepared) and my take on the current weather is that it needs to get much warmer before I’ll return to normal life. Not wanting to complain, but when the cheeks get too numb to find, my work here is done. Back inside. Wait for spring! Even the dog was doing his three paws down, one paw up dance.

We now have our free postcard. Esthetically ordinary, but the price is right. Now to choose a target, and get busy sending social words.
