Home theater
Home theater relies on a certain level of illusion. Usually, it doesn’t get there, for me. Until this evening; rarely have I sat through a couple of hours of mindless comedy, stood up and headed elsewhere at the end, saying to myself that it was good. Not great. Well, OK. Took my mind off reality. And, isn’t that the point?
I’ll not name the movie. Enough to explain that it was a fantastic tribute to a novel I had been forced to read in high school, based on a world that I will never experience. I got my money’s worth. And for the record, it was recommended by Alexa.
Checking the long range forecasts. We shouldn’t expect any real winter weather over the next couple of weeks, which will put us into February. Still too soon to think the season is behind us, but the scariest period is over. Of course, next summer we’ll all be complaining about the heat, while hoping that the wells don’t go dry.
The mudding has started up the stairwell, which is a sign that the basement is under control. Right now, the steps are covered in kraft paper, so I’ll have to avoid wandering in the dark. Slippy going. I’ll have to start shopping for a workdesk, if I want to deploy the radio gear. Apparently there’s a firmware upgrade about to be released for the (new) main transceiver. Could be a game changer. Or perhaps enough to push me into actually operating. Big world out there, waiting for me to explore.
