My normal life

posted in environment |

Somehow, I figured things would work like this: yesterday, it was 2020. Today, it is 2021. Since I don’t have to write any personal cheques, no difference. True, the fridge calendar is empty, but all of my gadgets changed the date automatically.

Last evening, we tried to respect the ritual imposed by our forefathers. That is, we watched Infoman and Bye Bye. Some new content, some new faces. Overall, not much of a change from past years. Once again, I missed the “ball drop”, because of TV network schedules.

And outside, in anticipation of an inbound storm, I donned my boots and took several scenery pics. No snow, for now. The various “forecast models” assure confusion. Could be almost anything, this time tomorrow. Doesn’t matter. I’m an inside liver, and the doors and windows will keep the worst at bay. If I need to shovel, going forward, so be it. I did check on the prices for mechanical assistance, but I’m not willing to invest that much in a gadget that might not be needed. Global climate change, you rock!

A sign that lives have slowed is the silence of the telephone. No calls (not even from the Chinese recording). I could bother others, but what would be the point. They’re all snug in their homes, eating through the mound of leftovers from the holidays. No idea how many among mine will return to work this week. At a guess, my siblings with essential professional lives will be back at it. And the kids didn’t do vacation.
