The todo list that isn’t getting any shorter

posted in education |

Going over my mental “projects in progress”, and I realize I have a problem. Too much down time and not enough action on my part. Right now, in various piles, I have a new amateur radio station to set up, a mag-loop antenna to complete, some satellite stuff, a whole dessert table with various Raspberry Pi ideas; and that’s just one corner of the work area. Throw in my tiny solar generator, some musical gear, preparation for the big freeze…

Truth hurts. This is going to be a special winter. You see, I’m not alone in this world of dismay. Right now, they’re cancelling plans for the Santa Claus parade. And Santa Claus. And Hallowe’en. And the fall harvest. By the time anything gets back on track, we’re going to be saluting 2020 as the year that wasn’t.

I can’t imagine what life is like, back in the work place. Education requires people, together, doing things. None of that is possible. We’ve very fortunate, locally, because the pandemic is beyond the provincial border. I keep an eye on other sections of the nation (where I have family), and as work dries up and schools are on the brink of returning to quarantine, I’m not hearing much.

I guess I will have to plan for another season in lockdown. As soon as my flu shot comes in. I still have a lot of movies to watch, and books to read. Oh, and that project list. Check back, next spring; may the list be shorter. Hey, perhaps ’21 will be the start of something marvelous.
