A new case, just in case
Try two… I had to pause and reactivate my software, because ten years is a lifetime. I wonder if anyone ever asks why. In my case, when something actually works, without a hassle, I keep it around. In passing, there’s a machine with WordStar around here. In case of an emergency.
Now, back to my regular rant. This evening, I received a nifty metal box that makes one of my SDR look (and work) better. When I initially order the receiver, the only version available came in plastic; the metal box was for more advanced (meaning expensive) models. I did see that someone was marketing a replacement case, in Europe, but they were all sold out and not planning to rework things.
Fast forward, and I spotted a case for sale on AmazonUS (where else?). I ordered, I watched the tracking info, and a full week earlier than promised it was in my mail locker. Now that’s nice! The moving of the tiny circuit board to its new shell took only minutes.
In QC, the provincial government has made a really unusual request. Would folks please avoid all contact with others, for a full four weeks. I understand the motive. Their numbers of infected citizens is climbing, rapidly. If it means shutting down the schools, the government doesn’t want to go that way. Instead, a voluntary “keep your distance” program is now in place, which won’t work according to the best science, but will remind people that the government is proactive. I am so glad that I live like a hermit, far from the madding crowds.
