Alms?
Maybe I’m over-reacting, but I feel like I’m under keen surveillance on two fronts. Through the living room window, small red furred creatures check to see that we haven’t decamped. No reticence is shown. We provide, and they hide. Eggs, seeds, kibble; all help in providing steady meals.
Through the dining room window, small green creatures hover and watch. We provide delicious sugary water, in easily accessed feeders. And I am not paranoid. Yes, they are watching. On the rare morning when fluid levels get too low, they are waiting. Open the door and you hear the buzz, as they pass close enough to remind us we are late.
At least it isn’t bugs, right? Things could be so much worse.
On the political side, leadership conventions are underway on both sides of our shared frontier. Here in Canada, nothing of great importance, as one of the Loyal Opposition groups is trying to pick a new figurehead that won’t hurt their chances, should a general election be called. However… the USA is poised to keep us all tuned in, for the next ten weeks. Will we get snow or a new president first?
Not much else going on, locally. I checked, and our new mailbox hasn’t been “planted”, yet. We did get new keys, yesterday, so this is imminent. I am unsure of the why, unless the local store finds their parking lot too small for the traffic.
And, downstairs (or rather, between upstairs and downstairs), the stairs have been reinforced. Substantially. Good work! We lasted five years with a temporary installation. Now a new and improved stairwell.
