Spotty service

posted in environment |

Unfair to complain about the post office, even if their service is spotty. Today, I received my granola bars. Ordered just over a week ago. And yes, I did receive a warning that the delivery might be delayed. Came all the way from the Prairies… In sharp contrast, my order of Cat-5 cable, ordered just over a week ago, is somewhere between Dieppe and here. Has been for a week now. And the rule is that I can’t complain (passive aggressive posts are permitted, however). I’m trying to imagine how it works in the trenches: do they choose the parcel to be handled based on some Magic 8-ball kept in the postie pocket? Yes, I want my cable, and the granola bars are for nourishment as I reconfigure the home network system.

It took longer than I had hoped, but I finally uncovered the high tech firebox we purchased some summers ago. One of those things stored safely away, that I “know it’s here, someplace”. And in the end, it was safe among the stored stuff  in the basement closet.  I needed to find the firebox, because it has a battery that has to be recharged from time to time (doing that, right now). The object had come up in conversation that was deviating from the polite tone. Now I can gather twigs and leaves while I wait for the fire ban to be lifted. We need rain!

Last week, a mysterious flower was spotted (not by me) growing in one of the garden beds. A tentative identification was put on it, using a smartphone app. Today, a confirmation from a provincial botanist. Consider the case closed.
