Protect me from the anti-vax movement

posted in health |

Right now, I miss the distraction of the workplace. With lots of time on my hands, and a deep-seated curiosity, I find myself reading lots of things, about lots of subjects. And I realize that there are many, many people with access to keyboards who come without a lick of sense, as my grandmother used to say.

As the world seeks a vaccine for our latest communicable disease, there are many who feel that this is just a plot. What? Do they think that the sudden uptick in fatalities is a normal thing? Do they (and I don’t know who “they” are, nor do I want to) really believe that the whole world is out to make them artificially ill?

We may be years away from a viable vaccine, and in the meantime this whole social distancing thing is anti-social. I’d love to return to normal. However, I’m not going to test my own immunity, just because I read on a site that someone (anecdotally) once got vaccinated for whatever and happened to develop some disorder. In passing, my parents taught me to science over folklore. I’ve been vaccinated, at every stage of my life, without ill effects.

I’ll stand down. No ranting on an empty stomach. Best that I have a good meal, followed by a long night’s sleep. That way, tomorrow, I can face the insanity once more.

So, what else happened today? I actually took the time to dig out my box of solar panels, and was dismayed to discover that I own a dozen 1.3 watt devices. Do the math; this won’t do anything worth recounting. I’m back to seeking the best price/quality deal for some real solar gear. It’s out there, somewhere.
