Deck starlings?

posted in technology |

Here’s a question that doesn’t require an answer: what did lazy folks do before frozen pizza? I’m not inspired to prepare anything more ambitious. Besides, I haven’t had any pepperoni in ages. Don’t care about the low nutritional value. Don’t care about the ambient temperature here in the house. By the time things get up to the “molten cheese” point, darkness will be upon us, and I’m ready to sit back with some classic radio and a tall glass of apple juice. Rockin’ life, my way.

One of the kids asked, via text, about our weather. Let’s see: the a/c ran all afternoon, the farmers are practicing for a rain dance, and I had a flock of starlings on the deck (unrelated, but observed; particularly the one that spread his wings and hugged the planks). We’re ready for summer to unroll. OK, we won’t have the usual flock of tourists, but hey, starlings. Right?

Actually there was a really good “heat map” on social media, using the relative levels of pandemic to show why the border remains closed.

I’m trying to absorb a lot of information about small solar panel setups. All those tiny ones that I bought years ago from the local auto store should be deployed, and I want to learn as much as I can before I destroy anything. Voltage, apparently. I’m going to need to get something called “solar charge controller”, and the stats in the various offerings don’t mean much, yet. I’ll get there. I pride myself on self-paced learning, even if I don’t always apply my bag of knowledge to purpose.
