I like to track my things

posted in ham radio, technology |

Sometimes, it’s just nice to know. I’m referring to the ability to track a parcel in transit. It won’t get things to my door any faster, but I take great pleasure in using the tools now available from the various transporters.

Unless, as it happens, the original sender doesn’t feel that I need to know the details (however obscure). I have been waiting on a shipment of wire, and my credit card statement assured me that the necessary payment had been made – back about three weeks ago. I had called the store, and tried leaving my coordinates with the person tasked to follow up on such things. Well, that went nowhere. Not so much as a callback, after several tries.

However, the box arrived, today. And I did the right thing: I called that number, again, and left a polite thank you for the delivery of my order. I mean, it wasn’t that hard. It might be that the company has too many “irons in the fire”, but if you can’t offer a service, then… don’t offer the service. I’ll go and attach my connectors now, and ruminate on the level of service. There might be other things I can purchase from the firm, or not. Competition.

Meanwhile, my day was spent like so many others. The dog requires a high level of service, too. At the door, mainly, but also around the jar of dog biscuits I keep on the counter. We have a symbiotic relationship.

And outside, the grass is getting greener. In spite of the pandemic.
