Remind me; what day is this?

The pandemic comes with a whole array of reactions. From the “hoax” label applied to our south, through logical decisions to mitigate, all the way to national quarantines; let’s try everything and see what works. Proof we’re in new territory, medically.

This province has been locked down for about a month, and the numbers from the health system bear witness to the positive effect. Other provinces have borders that are more difficult to control, and much larger populations. Today, in Toronto, the premier referred to a group of demonstrators who want to “open up the economy” as idiots (my take on that, as well). In Quebec, the wearing of a mask in public has now started to receive promotion from the government. Let’s hope they find some stocks of the rare N95 face covering, in parallel.

Seriously, this is starting to look like a serious affair, for those of you who subscribe to the “nothing to see here” school of thought.

I’ve started checking the screen on my tablet, to keep my knowledge of “the days of the week” up to date (excuse the pun). Without anything to distinguish yesterday from today and tomorrow, those labels are important.

The local newspaper just ran (another) article on how to culture yeast at home. Using recipes reminiscent of prison hooch production, the claim is that (with patience), we can get past the shortage of bread yeast. I’m not there, yet, but I’m glad that someone has my back. Now, if they would add some indications of how much to add to my bread machine; all my recipes point to a dosage that is based on commercially prepared product.
