Foam, football and another antenna
There are larger worries in the world, but right now the primary one in my near circle is that the crema is missing. I’ve decalcified and degreased and tested and rejected (a half jar of ground beans), but the answer is not clear. What will we do if the machine has developed a mechanical flaw?
The cabling on my personal committment to a hobby has been revamped, and the possibility of actually contacting the outside world is at hand. My third antenna was raised (about three metres) this afternoon in a mixture of wind and rain, which is how most of these devices are put in place. At least it didn’t require yet another visit to the hardware store; the staff is starting to wonder about my sudden fascination with lengths of PVC and copper pipe. There’s even a homebrew balun in the mix. My first.
The Rouge et Or managed to snag the Uteck cup this afternoon, with a very one-sided match against the visitors from Calgary. It must hurt to fly so far and fall so flat. This is the eleventh match in a row with winning numbers, and next week we’ll have the Vanier cup to look forward to. In some ways, this is better football than that offered by the professionals, and the money makers have their eye on this area as home for another franchise. Those same money makers depend on the public purse for infrastructure. Why? Isn’t a risk worth taking? The injection of funding by you and me shouldn’t be the key factor.
