Alarm reset mode
Some days are spent making the lights go out. No, not the regular kind; the alarms. Things started with the flashing smoke detector, this morning (with an accompanying loud periodic squeal). I tried a number of lessn-than-new batteries before getting in the car and heading for my general store. Yes, they had the correct size, in stock, and I could even try my new tap-n-go payment card. We’re all looking for ways to avoid that virus exposure.
Back home, after resolving my issue with the fire sentry, I noticed other maintenance issues. The coffee machine was ready for its monthly tablet. Out with its signal. Then the washer wanted a tablet. I had Affresh on the shelf, so that was just a matter of setting the cycle in motion.
One of my older laptops had a real light show to offer, until I slipped in the new battery pack brought by “Mr. UPS” and his pocket full of dog treats. I don’t need the laptop, but it is best to be prepared, right? Besides, there might be some interesting data on the hard drive.
The car had no warnings on the dash, but the vibration from the rear brakes is another signal that we’re due for some time in the shop. Here’s the issue: we might replace that car with something shinier, so deciding how much money to spend on things like brake pads and summer tires (yes, they’re also ready to be changed out) is a question of great pertinence.
In fact, my life right now is dedicated to maintenance. For better or worse.
