This is the award show season. Aligns with winter, or something. I don’t often stay up late enough to actually learn who wins, in real time. Last night, the Oscars. Didn’t watch, so this morning was filled with surprises. Actually, it seems to have caught those “in the know” off guard as well. Columnists, mainly. They should follow my example; abstain and then write about things after the fact. Might not sit well with their bosses, but it would save seeming silly.
We had a surprise snow storm, all day. Because schools were open, people simply didn’t pay attention (I did, but I’m sensitive to such things). The dogs (yes, plural; we had a visitor) also found the deep snow to be an interesting change of pace. Getting toweled down after each sortie makes my hound feel like an athlete. And now we wait to see if the lane will require clearing, or if we simply take things in stride (winter tires help, a lot).
My filler hose (for the upcoming CO2 refill tests) came in the mail. Looks like something out of a plumber’s fever dream, but it might work. I can’t test until the tank comes home. Not even practice attempts.
Did a walk-through downstairs with the renovator. We’re singing from the same songbook, except that he really, really wants to build shelf units. Seems to be a particular interest of his. I asked him to leave anything like that until the other parts of the job are done: a window, some walls, stairwell reinforcement, suspension of some ceiling, etc. And I also moved my various receivers (air, sea, weather) into a manageable pile.
