Annual reminder
The morning began with a quick shout-out from an old friend. We try to touch base, at least on this date, each year. Why? Well, I have a special affinity for that movie, Groundhog Day. Even if there are no fat rodents in my yard, I care about the idea that some things should happen, annually. Besides my birthday. Oh, and if the news reports can be trusted, some shadows were spotted, elsewhere. Some shadows were not. Therefore, winter is not over yet, but the actual time before our lawn returns is uncertain.
We broke with regular meal codes today; served a pan of thawed chicken wings. Not exactly a reference for a balanced diet, but still tasty. Tomorrow, we go back to things that don’t require a bib and handwipes.
Another grand-nephew got a start, yesterday. I celebrated in typical genealogical fashion, with a concerted effort to trace his ancestry. Depending on published records, only, adds a challenge to the task. As of right now, I’m about halfway done; if the football game bogs down, I have a fallback activity.
I’m paying attention to the political process down south (before it goes off the rails). Tomorrow, the first round of primaries in Iowa. Now, I don’t understand the process, but it seems to attract a lot of media attention. Must be something there. Between now and November, names will be officially added to the ballots (unless that also goes awry). I am SO glad to live in a country where the politics are more defined. I mean, we get the same thing, time after time, but we trust the process.
