A day in shades of grey
Today, my sunglasses were superfluous to the cause. This was a grey day, from top to bottom. Fog, rain, some freezing drizzle. All while we wended our way back to Quebec City.
Temperatures peaked at around 7C; unusual for this late in the year. Our only fear was that we would spend time slip-sliding, and that didn’t happen. Son #3 is back home, despite a key chase, and we’re in the same motel as earlier in the week. The big difference? The management has realized that dogs qualify as special needs visitors, and the room contains a comfortable dog bed along with two full-size bowls and some beef flavoured treats (no, I didn’t verify that detail).
We had a restaurant meal, rather than burger bits, and I feel better for it. Travel food doesn’t have to be mediocre. We’re staying in the area for two nights, so I don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
My decision to leave the laptop at home and rely on the iPad is still valid. Sure, a full-size keyboard would be easier than my current hunt-and-peck, but I’ll manage. The screen is ample, and I haven’t needed to dig through any of my hard drive content. Too much luggage, other trips.
Let me check the news… Go figure; there isn’t any. How about “trending on Twitter”… someone unearthed a Mayan palace, but the owners remain MIA. The din over a tiny edit to the movie “Home Alone 2” remains as a loud interlude to reality. And I’m ready to sleep, I think. In spite of the noise.
