A required recovery

posted in environment |

My premonition was realized; this morning, all of my cardboard pile was gone. Unfortunately, this was hours before the scheduled pass of my recycling truck, so I had to assume the worst. My cardboard pieces were still around, just; around the local ditches.

Here, we have deep ditches. Not quite deep enough to require climbing ropes, but close. And at the bottom, black water. Not deep, but cold. In fact, I had my first chance to go for a walk on the ice. My feet are wet, because new ice is thing ice. I was determined (a polite way to say stubborn), so I hung in there until I had recovered every piece of cardboard I could see. There may be others, but they’re away. Off the Point, possibly.

The truck still hadn’t come by, so I carefully repiled my harvest, and then brought two concrete blocks out to the road, to serve as anchors. When the truck came, he didn’t recycle my concrete; I’m will be able to do this again.

This afternoon, a plumber came by. To see the project; no tools were required or used. He seemed to take things calmly (it won’t actually be him that comes onsite), and at some point in the new year, my new shower should be installed. We actually unboxed the base, so I have a better idea of the working dimensions. I still fit.

A letter (five pages in length) has been sent by the president of our neighbouring nation, to the speaker of the “congress”. The president did not write the letter, based on the vocabulary and sentence structure, but I’m sure the sentiment was closely aligned with his own. Interesting times ahead.
