Inefficient ways to keep the house cleaner
I really shouldn’t be so attentive, given that the big yellow bus hasn’t stopped at my door in many years. But, the schools were closed today. A preemptive measure, with the announcement on the social media sites by 05h30. We were warned that it could be wet; slippy; a dog’s breakfast of precipitation. In the end, none of that, at least around here.
There’s a tree, with lots of lights and a collection of heirloom ornaments, setting up in the living room. For the next couple of fortnights, I’ll have to be careful not to rock the bush when I take the dog outside under cover of darkness. Also, any vacuuming will require due care and attention.
Speaking of vacuuming, I was put on a quest: find out just how noisy one of the Roomba gadgets actually might be, once carpet is not factored in. YouTube came through, and I was able to garner a whole range of factoids. The decibel level. The click-clack of passing over tile joints. The danger level for a dog, who might not understand the risk that ensued from a mobile bot in its living space. We’ve seen any number of pictures, showing how a cat will ride one (akin to a float in a parade). Dogs? Not so much. Rather, the loss of food particles seems to worry the hounds.
No, I don’t have any intention of going out and getting such a gadget. It seems designed for those that reside in rooms devoid of furniture, with the humans off-site during running hours. And yes, the noise is real. Imagine running your normal vacuum cleaner for hours. There, now you understand.
