Between intentions and actions

posted in music |

The difference between intentions and actions? Look no further than this afternoon when I received a call inviting me to spend some time musically. I found the amps and we sat in the room with two similar bass guitars, and other than a few minutes of comparison – nada. You can’t jam with a pair of bass guitars. So, we did the next thing and talked for several hours. Edging around politics, for the main part. Odd way to spend the practice.

This was also a two-dog day, when the contractor returned with his hound. I give credit; his dog is so polite while begging for extra food. Warm, huggy mooch pooch. What can I add?

Outside, we have summoned up the winds. Suddenly. On the weather forum, people want to know if this was forecast activity, or just something random. Enough of a force of nature that we’ve locked the back door, while everything rattles. The chance of a thunder storm is also “out there”, although so far no shock and awe.

Now that the votes have all been tallied, and the colour of the team jersey is known, a question arises. Mathematically we have no winner, but the seat count gives the match to one team. If that team had gone ahead, last session, and changed the way that we weigh such things, it would have been sidelined. Did they already do the math, and are the rest of us just figuring out that in politics the goal is a moving target? Seems to be. In two years (more or less) we’ll get to do this all again.
