A towed tree
This morning, with the low rumble of a tractor outside, I had to check what might be going on. After all, farmers don’t work every day. Going by the house, on the side lane, that tractor. In tow, a full-sized tree. Not a log; the whole tree, right down to autumn leaves on the branches. A large tree, had to be at least 10 meters in height (now length). No idea why. No idea what you do with such a thing, in your own back yard. I’m glad I had a chance to see it, though.
I’m starting to realize that I’m not going to see everything in my world (hate to travel, etc), so I’m going to take what I do see at more than face value. A sort of thanksgiving, if you will. After all, this is a (Canadian) holiday weekend, even if we haven’t gone all turkey and stuffing for the occasion.
The other night, while up to refill the dog water dish, I spotted a sizeable ocean liner going by. Turns out to be the largest passenger ship ever to visit the Island; MSC Meraviglia is one of the largest cruise ships in the world, carrying 4,500 passengers and around 1,500 crew members. Heard from a friend that wait times for coffee, in the morning, can go more than a half-hour for those in queue. Glad I’m here, not there.
In the basement, our renovations are going really well. The light fixtures and suspended ceiling are in place, and the drywall has been primed for painting. Just waiting on a custom door order to call the new bedroom ready for visitors.
