Anticipating an overhead pass
Right now, the skies are clear, sort of. Why that matters is that we have a predicted transit of ISS in about thirty minutes, and I would like to try eyeballing the pass. I’ll also bring a VHF receiver to the party, in case there’s chatter. Am I overly optimistic? Probably, but time is cheap, and I just have to keep “on task” for another few minutes. Avoid distraction from my comfortable bed, etc.
We had the “gang” over this morning, and three dogs trying to claim the available space on the living room couch was BUSY. I think the visitors like me, or at least like my willingness to massage sore dog knees.
In the mail, a small package containing four SO-239 connectors. Back in the day, I could have stopped by the local Radio Shack store for such things. Now, I wait for the postal people to bring my imports from the far east. Price has stayed about the same, so there’s one good thing here. I yearn for that time when you could purchase most required components for homebrewing, off the shelf. Electronics, not zymurgy, in case you are easily confused.
The first review from my social circle have started to come in, and the Downton movie looks like a hit. It might be “ages” before I actually get to watch the arrival of royalty, but I’m ready. On TV, they are so much better behaved than in real life, and I don’t have to practice protocol. In fact, if all goes well, I won’t even have to dress up to watch.
