All eyes on the storm
If you get tired watching the weather, keep an eye on that other storm. Brexit. The plot line has a lot of twists and curves. Today (was it only today?), the vote went against the newest UK prime minister, and the UK Parliament may not go into hibernation for the next few weeks . There could be some more voting, and a general election if trends continue. For me, I’m going to watch the pound… I have something I’d like to order from across the pond, and I am quite willing to save a few dollars through political instability.
The house (here) is back to quiet time. Our guests are gone (home), and none are expected for another week. Time to dust in the corners and tidy the knick-knack shelves. Elsewhere, son #3 spotted a portrait hanging in his workplace, of a distant cousin. He feels an attachment to the building that wasn’t there, this time yesterday.
Downstairs, the suspended ceiling struts are in place, and after a session of wall mudding (tomorrow) we could be contemplating the ceiling in a whole new way. Thankfully, the intended tiles are like the ones I had in my various schools, with holes that require counting (over and over and over again).
Locally, we’re all watching the track of Hurricane Dorian, which could come north for a visit by next weekend. Still unclear, but any time we get a forecast of winds that shake the barley AND the shingles, we have to be prepared. You know, ready to patch things up should the worst occur. At least I’m out of range of storm surges. Some fascinating video of people sitting in their attic while the rising tides disturb their ceiling tiles.
