Just a guy that knew his job

posted in technology |

A shout out is due, to the genny guy. Based on my less than complete list of “symptoms”, he came to visit this morning. He went straight to the problem (two blown fuses) inside the big scary panel. Once replaced (and he explained exactly why they had blown), he also upgraded the genny firmware, checked the rest of the system, wrote up his invoice and left… all within forty-five minutes. No false moves. Just a guy that knew his job. I have to salute that.

Meanwhile, outside, the wind continues to blow. The green bin tipped twice, out by the road. The BBQ moved a bit more (although I countered with equal and opposite force, so everything is as it was). This is just my impression, but I think we get more wind damage this time of year than during “hurricane season”. No damage to the house, but that might be due to all the easy stuff happening in year one.

I received a request to order a laptop power supply, this afternoon. I was afraid, given that such things are priced to hurt, but this time around I found them at $13. Each. Ordered two. No idea whose computer; I try to do as I’m told around here.

On Twitter, the question: why don’t the states of ND and SD join together? Why not. Then Puerto Rico could come on board, and the flag wouldn’t even require redesign. Win/win. My take on the reluctance to name a 51st state comes down to symmetry. Go ahead. Try to fit one more star into the current flag, and let me know what you think.
