Real tears of joy
Canada is close to having real fixed election dates, at all levels (that affect me). With that, the inevitable polls. If an election was called, today, either federally or provincially, we would be destined to see change. Not real change, as politics doesn’t work like that, but the fancy name plates on the doors of the fancy offices would change. Did anyone else notice that elections were not called, today?
And, as a concerned citizen, I’m reading the stories. Doesn’t go with “fun” or “a good meal”, but I do enjoy watching the story unwind. How will the landscape look, after the battle finishes? Any new potholes (Lord knows we will have those, once spring arrives)?
Mustn’t fret. I’m not running for (or from) anything. The worst that could happen is that I hone my complaining skills over the next couple of years. Maybe, some day, I’ll write an effective “letter to the editor”, and spur conversation around the teapot. Maybe not. I didn’t get this old by sticking my head up like some silly rodent in a midway game.
In what passes for local news, the new Anne tried her wig for the first time, and then gushed real tears for the assembled journalists. The chance of a lifetime! Wait until she learns that everyone else around here knows the lyrics already, and many will sing at the drop of a puffed sleeve. On the Island, “Is anything more delectable than ice cream?”. No, no there isn’t. Although the lobster roll comes in at a close second position, at a much higher price.
