A tweak that matters
The press release uses the word “tweak”, but locally it will be better seen as “great news”. For the next lobster season, less than three months away, the closures due to whale sightings will be restrained. I, for one, think this is a good thing. Last season, no whales died in Canadian waters, but shipping traffic and fishing were on high alert.
Unless you live in an area with a “primary industry”, you don’t always realize how many of your neighbours are affected by poor government planning. The lobster season lasts roughly sixty days, and during the whole period people were waiting for the next tweet from DFO, with the dreaded closure maps. I hope, going forward, that we return to rational strategies.
Closer to home (this home), I received my long awaited call from the surgeon, and come Monday I’ll let someone play with pointy objects in my eye. More news to come. This pushed me to get certain affairs in order, and I’ve complete my paperwork for the local community group. Housekeeping duties, but if I have a problem seeing (post op), all the touch typing at my command won’t get me “done”. I can now worry about other stuff. I will; that’s one of my endearing quirks.
I’ve learned that Spotify intends to crack down on users who throw up their “shields”, or ad blockers. Seems that paying the musicians next to nothing for use of their content isn’t enough. The service also wants to assure that you get every ad they offer. Refuse to listen, and you will be refused (the occasion) to listen. Corporations really want all of the money.
