In for windy weather
We might be in for windy weather. Ever since we realized (due to family members that have a pied-à-terre in coastal Florida) that hurricanes bear watching, the various forecasts and storm tracks and CNNian doom and gloom shows have become part of the autumn entertainment lineup. Well, sometimes a storm doesn’t try to hide its flank on the Mexican beaches.
The tropical storm Kyle has begun one of those rare tracks that seems to defy the Coriolis effect, with a projected path that is aimed straight north out of the Caribbean toward the Atlantic provinces, or maybe even Quebec. Not impossible, not likely, worth watching.
There’s nothing too dramatic about a bit of wind and rain (which is what most tropical storms have left when they make the climb to Canada) but I’m due to travel in a small airplane come Monday. The storm is currently projected to follow the same ground track, at the same time, which could lead to an interesting itinerary. Of course, the naysayer at the other end of the table is calling out for an alternative plan, one involving medical emergencies and increased coverage on my tiny policy. Sorry, but an Act of God doesn’t get anyone else into the rich and famous club.
What will probably happen is that I’ll be wearing a raincoat all day Monday, suffering from solar deprivation. The storm will have found another area to harass, and this will be just another episode in the Cassandra Chronicles. But, you never know.
