When you believe you have all the bases covered
Keep the drama levels high. The NAFTA talks were to end today, based on a presidential edict. Except that they didn’t. He doesn’t have that much “juice”. He did send a letter to the legislative house, saying that he had an agreement in principle with Mexico, and that Canada could join the party later, if it wished. Somehow, this doesn’t have the same impact as what he promised.
But there’s no sense in getting stressed about trade deals. The first rule of capitalism is that you have to move product, and in the absence of a treaty, sellers will find a workaround. Will it cost me more? Probably.
Anything else going on? From my window, things look familiar. The lawn is in reasonable shape, and the garden is producing on schedule. Why, even the potted tomato in the dining room has bloomed, and tiny green nodes are hanging around. I don’t expect any monster-maters, but the tiny ones are just as much fun to slice and dice.
Glad to hear that renovations are proceeding nicely at a Summerside school, built in 1976. Why, I remember that project! The hope is to allow another three decades of use for the building (bringing it past the 70th anniversary. In other provinces, the bulldozer would be on and gone (Ontario’s PTR policy comes to mind}. Planning to keep a school open long past its pension point means that you (the government) are frugal beyond belief and/or convinced that you have the best physical plant possible. And since nothing evolves in education, I’m sure thay have all the bases covered.
