Time to test

posted in travel |

Without making this sound too much like a test for a trip to the great beyond, we were due for our first test voyage. After all, the rig has passed the home trials without issue (a fuse is not an issue, OK?) Today, we decided  to go to the end of the driveway, turn right and see how things went.

We live at one end of a convenient loop. All around the “Up East” territory comes in at just over 100 km. Perfect for a first run. And, back home now, I can confirm that everything went smoothly. At least, up to the limits of second class highways in this province.

This was a chance to see if comfort would be part of the overall package. Air conditioned, reasonably sound proofed, ample space for the dog to stretch out. Even our seats were an obvious notch upscale from those in the Rogue, and the big windshield made my job (gawking at the scenery) easy.

We stopped into “our” campground, long enough to say hello to some of the folks who are there, every year. After all, we were among the last to set aside our nylon tents and opt for something from this century. We didn’t stay long, because this was at the front end of our trip, but the circumnavigation went without any complaint. OK, one: I don’t know if the internal GPS does log files, and my handheld version is around the house, but out of sight. For now, I can remember where we’ve been, and I can even provide a map, for posterity.
