What about the batteries?
In a world where batteries are not included, you work around the problem. Careful shopping at the local dollar store and you’re good for the next few hours of activity with your gadget. Perhaps not flashlights… very few batteries on the cheap side of the aisle are up to spotting raccoons or foxes in the dark. For that, I have a big old Maglite. Anyhow.
My real peeve, today, is electronic devices that don’t include the appropriate power supply. Must be the only decision between bankruptcy and success in the world market. Still, those same companies valiantly show their independent streak by maintaining a bewildering selection of “plug sizes”, and then there’s voltage. Not just how much, but which way. Polarity is important.
Which is why any after-market purchase requires reading the manual, and then resorting to “zoom” on the images offered by the online retailers. Is the center tap positive or negative. Yes, it matters, a lot. Why the listing can’t mention such a detail is part of the mystery. This afternoon, I realized that I was one 9V wall wart short; no choice left but to figure out what Amazon had in my size.
And a final point. Why does the shipping often equal the value of the article. I know, you have your wonderful Prime service, but nothing is free (I learned this, along the way). Eventually, you’ll bill me, at a time when my guard is down and I fail to realize that I’ve paid, for the rest of time. Automatic renewal: double jeopardy.
I miss the days when batteries were included.
