A better chair

posted in environment, history |

There now. Something else to cross off my list. This afternoon, I went to a book launching, in which I was involved… from A to Z, if you will. I am pleased that others found our production to be “like a book”, although when you hit close to 400 pages and bind it up with a cover and spine, there’s not much else it can resemble.

This was a true community gathering, with about sixty local people at a rough count. I learned all kinds of things about growing root vegetables because that’s what people talk about at this time of the year. Let it be noted: some of the older fellows have also done the math. You can buy all the veggies you’re likely to eat in any given year for much less than you will invest in that same garden.

The week away ended, and we now have a new leather chair (that matches the other one in the living room). A positive upgrade, as it replaces a seat that was only used by inanimate piles of stuff. A question of comfort. As we move into three complete years in the house, we now can have more than one guest at a time. Come on over, neighbours. Perhaps not that one, but the others. I jest. You know that, right?

While I was off to launch the book, the dog learned that the back yard and deck area also belong to him. The sporadic woofing, as I came up the drive, served as feedback. At least, based on a rough translation.
