Another nick of time story

posted in politics |

The strike at UPEI is over. The same 95% that voted to go walk around have voted to walk back. In return, their teaching load will drop by three hours per week in the second semester.

For this, close to four thousand students received a) added stress b) less class time than they paid for c) a valuable lesson in who comes first in the feeding chain. A shabby show.

The end result is that the university will hire a few more sessional lecturers, which will bring great pleasure to the accountants that have to balance salary budgets. The administration will have another bargaining chip in trying to increase the budget envelope from the government. The students; well, better luck next semester.
