Forget the ashes of this Phoenix

posted in media, politics |

Could someone nudge the CBC on the elbow, and whisper in an ear that “their online app for watching their programming is a failure”. Nicely. And could you also express astonishment at how the ad content plays flawlessly.

I know; we still have standard television feed to handle issues like this, but I have a confession. I missed  the debut of Caught, last evening and I really wanted to see it. Just in case the RofD mojo is still working. And so I remained calm, and patient; after close to 90 minutes, I can say that I’ve seen the opening episode (which runs for 45 and change). I’ve also seen the same four ads, enough times to quote the text AND swear off any possible business with the named entities.

This afternoon, the federal government presented their next budget. TL;DR. I’m sure I’ll get the relevant passages, through osmosis. There is one biggie, though: The Phoenix is going to die. Without possibility of rebirth from its own ashes. Or the ashes of all the cash “we the people” invested in a fatally flawed project. As for the civil servants who are on the receiving end of the erratic money pipe? Hang in there; you’ll get paid, eventually.

Although there hasn’t been a formal press release, it appears that yet another of the dominos in the Trump game has fallen/flipped. One needs a scorecard to keep track, at this point. I’m waiting for Day Zero.  You know, when this whole play climaxes, in sound and fury. The prelude to the movie version.
