Limits to my dialogue

posted in environment |

Hard to believe that we’re down to “the last weekend before the holidays”. What happened? Did I buy a calendar with less than the standard quota of pages?

Part of my new lifestyle is that I can go weeks (literally) without seeing anyone other than the wife and the dog. Oh, wait… the post person came to the door a few days back, but the time required to receive an oversize box doesn’t add up to much interaction. “Do I need to sign?” That’s about the extent of the dialogue.

But enough chatter about chatter. There’s always Twitter. Starting to appreciate the immediacy of the information. Whereas a web page might be old (hours? days?) the tweets are showing up within minutes of their launch (slow web here, so I’m not going to be more timely than that). And of course, when the whole mess implodes down south, I’ll be in the loop long before my usual media sites are trumpeting. I wonder what we’ll get for the holidays…

The turkey chase is over at the local TV station, and they managed to welcome a lot of raw protein this time around. Turns out there’s a cold storage site in the city where the bounty will be stored until deliveries are made to those in need; keeps the salmonella alerts under control.

I don’t plan to “do” a bird here over the next couple of weeks. Too much food and not enough time. Perhaps I’ll celebrate the midwinter with a feed of fowl. Or not.
