Real life moments

posted in humour |

Turns out that my dog’s propensity to go through doors is normal. A subject of memes, even. Knowing that, how can I ever refuse (no matter the hour) to open a door and let him pass through to the other side?

The Olympic trials for curling are underway, and I will have to wait until the final game to know who will represent “us” in February. It’s that close! Rather exciting, actually; it shows that the talent pool is deep.

The “Time Person of the Year” cover was unveiled, yesterday. Not you-know-who, although he received mention (for all the wrong reasons).

In BC (where else?), a couple have invested their retirement savings into a small “farm” of specialized computers. The pair intend to mine for bitcoin, in a determined manner. I’ll not try to clarify what that means (you have Google, right?), but take it as a given that if all it required was a number of specialized computers, Google could be all over that. And they aren’t. Perhaps the plan is no sillier than buying lots of lottery entries; perhaps they will run out of life before they run out of money. That’s the goal of any retirement plan, actually.

Another “get rich quick” scheme to avoid: sitting in a Canadian passenger plane, on the tarmac, for hours and hours. Even with proposed new legislation, you’re going to be uncomfortable and frustrated (and hungry…), rather than fairly compensated. When asked, the Minister said to wait; the new legislation won’t be all that bad. Right!
