In anticipation of new holes

posted in food, health |

Activity paused: the night of the great candy giveaway has started, and we’ve already had two or three batches of kids at the door. They’re all wearing masks, and perhaps it is the same children swapping costumes out by the road, but I’m going to go with the “big numbers” idea. In any case, I won’t have to eat the whole treat purchase myself. In the country, depending on prevailing winds and wandering wildlife, a house can be forgotten.

I’ve been up since early. Not just in anticipation of lost souls finding my doorstep; I had a scheduled medical appointment this morning, and we arrived on time despite slow moving farm machinery and random work zones. Yes, the parking lot was posted as FULL, but there’s always room for one more. The keeper let us in.

My doctor had no music in the office today… the better to hear him decide to send me for another consultation with a different surgeon. New eye, same anticipation of pointy objects. I’m used to the routine, and I’ve had a good run since this saga began. If my failing years are marred by failing eyesight, then I had best start my musical career for when I can’t read any more. We’ll sounds so optimistic.

A great lunch, though. I learned that the reason “their” mustard pickles taste so much better than the ones that I bring home in a glass jar is that “they” make their pickles onsite, on a continual basis throughout the year. A popular condiment!
